Posters and embroidered t-shirts:
Combined poster and sprayfont with extended life cycle in three stages. First: as a poster with informational text and holes cut out. Second: as a poster partially sprayed over, the text gradually becomes illegible. Third: when the poster is eventually stripped away, the sprayed painting remains. Text tells the personal story of a temp at a nursing home for the longterm ill, situated in my small hometown in the '70s, who takes care of former Swedish minister of finances Ernst Wigforss. Though here suffering from dementia, Wigforss once was the architect behind the social democratic system of economics later termed keynesianism (named after John Maynard Keynes, but it was actually Wigforss who designed the system). This system dictates that increased state spending during periods of economic crisis shall act as a stabilizer. Discredited during the years of neoliberal dominance, keynesianism has recently garnered renewed attention as a consequence of the latest worldwide crisis. In the re-told story, Wigforss can't understand why nobody from the department has called to ask for his opinion on world affairs.
Two t-shirt designs. Hand embroidered by the former temp worker who tells the story. More info to follow shortly. |
